Weekly Catechism for 2019 - Lord's Day 1

The Baptist Catechism 1693 | Questions 1 -3

1. Who is the first and chiefest being?
God is the first and chiefest being (Isa 44:6; 48:12; Psa 97:9).

2. Ought everyone to believe there is a God?
Everyone ought to believe there is a God (Heb 11:6); and it is their great sin and folly who do not (Psa 14:1).

3. How may we know there is a God?
The light of nature in man and the works of God plainly declare there is a God (Rom 1:19-20; Psa 19:1-3; Act 17:24); but His Word and Spirit only do it fully and effectually for the salvation of sinners (1Co 2:10; 2Ti 3:15-16).

Weekly Catechism - Lord's Day 50

Weekly Catechism for 2018 (Heidelberg 1563): LORD’S DAY 50

125. What is the fourth petition?
Give us this day our daily bread. That is: Be pleased to provide for all our bodily need; that we may thereby know that Thou art the only fountain of all good, and that without Thy blessing, neither our care and labor, nor Thy gifts can profit us; and may therefore withdraw our trust from all creatures, and place it alone in Thee.
